What to Expect in Counseling
Counseling services provide support and guidance for individuals, teens, and couples facing various challenges. Therapy is a collaborative process where you work with a trained therapist to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your emotions, values, belief systems, motivations, and hang-ups, and ultimately develop tools to help you face life's challenges. Through discussions and practice exercises in and out of session, you and your therapist work together to create positive change in your life.
Evidence-based therapies offer effective tools and strategies to help you overcome life's obstacles. By learning to challenge automatic thinking, manage and accept your emotions, and communicate better, you can gain a more balanced perspective and replace ineffective patterns with more productive behaviors. These skills can help you cope with difficult emotions and enhance your relationships.
By combining psychological and theological principles, called integrated therapy, healing can be significantly deepened. Incorporating spiritual beliefs into therapy, as seen in modalities like the 12-step program for AA or some aspects of DBT, can help you find true wholistic healing and lasting transformation. If you're interested in integrated therapy, please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions.

My Approach

I believe therapy is a place to laugh and cry, celebrate and mourn, process difficult emotions or memories, and ultimately grow and heal. I am passionate about building relationships founded on trust, compassion, respect, and unconditional positive regard. I have a heart for helping people heal from all kinds of struggles using holistic tools including mind, body, and spirit practices. Everyone’s life experience is unique; therefore, I utilize a collaborative approach to create a personalized treatment plan to meet each individual’s goals. I have a personal passion for spiritual growth, transformation and faith-based integrated therapy, therefore when requested in session, I incorporated biblical principles and skills to increase connection with the Ultimate Healer. My own faith beliefs are never pushed on anyone else, and each person's wellness journey will be their own. I have worked with people from all kinds of faith backgrounds and will always respect anyone coming in my office.

My approach combines mindfulness and acceptance-based skills, as well as emotion and solution-focused strategies to increase insight and create change. I believe in addressing how trauma can get stored in the body’s nervous system leading to many struggles such as depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and PTSD.

My experience working at WEAVE and Kaiser as an adult outpatient mental health therapist provided me with a strong working knowledge of diagnosing and utilizing evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT, and ACT. I also have experience leading DBT and STAIR trauma groups, and working with military veterans (I’m also a vet). I am a Certified Trauma Professional, trained in Prolonged Exposure, EMDR, the Gottman Method (level 1), and the complexities of domestic violence.

I am a clinical therapist because I believe that I'm called to support and comfort others in their times of suffering, just like I have received.
"He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." 2 Corinthians 1:4 (NLT)
We are all connected to the well of the living water, therefore through my psychological training and personal walk with God, I can pour into others lives, so that they in turn at their right time, can pour into another person as well. I hope you are ready to embark on the healing journey, and I would be honored to walk alongside you to support and guide you. Please reach out to schedule a 15-min free consultations where I can answer any other questions you may have.
